IBF/IBO Heavyweight Champion, WBO/WBA Heavyweight Super Champion and „The Ring Magazine“ World Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko will meet with WBA “regular” Heavyweight Champion Alexander Povetkin at the SC Olimpiyskiy arena in Moscow (Russia) on October 5th. The initial press conference between the two heavyweight champions and two Olympic champions – Wladimir Klitschko (60-3, 51 KO) from Ukraine and Alexander Povetkin (26-0, 18 KO) from Russia arouse a tremendous media hype, with more than 250 media representatives and 50 camera crews on location in Moscow.
Klitschko saw these dimensions of the fight at an early stage: “This is the best fight the heavyweight division has to offer at the moment. The interest in this title defense is immense, just like it was against David Haye. This is exactly what heavyweight boxing needs”, said very relaxed and confident Klitschko, who is looking forward to the fight taking place in Moscow. “It is the first time that I will be boxing here. The fight also has a history. Povetkin blew it twice, but now we are sure that it will take place.”
No provocations. Both boxers approached each other with courtesy:
“This is a worldwide event, with more than 150 countries broadcasting my fight live. There’s already something special in the air. We are both Olympic champions. We are both world champions – this already makes this fight something special. I’m sure that it will be a very entertaining but also a technical fight. I’m not taking Alexander lightly, but I’m also not overestimating his skills” – said Wladimir Klitschko.
